This is a lovely property if you're independent travellers who want to sample north Tenerife, in a traditional Canarian town, away from the southern resorts. The area is lush and green with a dramatic coastline, very like Madeira. As with Madeira, the greenery comes because of cloudy winter weather but despite it being February, we were able to have sun every day by travelling along the coast or up the mountains. (As a tip, drive into the wind direction to find the best weather). All the mountain areas are well worth a visit as are the Botanical Gardens and Orchid Gardens in Puerto Cruz.
The property was good and the high quality conversion made the rooms feel light and airy especially with the high ceilings.
The standard of fittings and furniture is generally good and in keeping with the property. The kitchen was quite well equipped but needed a bit of updating - eg some missing and/or chipped crockery needed replacing. There were plenty of pots and pans although only a 2 ring hob. A small oven or a microwave would have been useful.
The grounds were lovely, particularly the pool area but a bit small if too many people wanted to use it especially if there was a mix of age groups. This property isn't really suitable for children, as there is only the pool area for them to play in.
This is a property (and area) where there is relatively little English spoken. This lead to some misunderstandings over access so make sure that arrival arrangements are clear!
The fact that this is a self catering property which can be booked on a daily basis makes this a useful option for just a quick break or to fit with available flights rather than being tied to a week long booking as is so often the case.
Little Hotels comment:
An electric mini-oven is available on request. Unfortunately we didn't make that clear enough on our webpage, but we have now corrected that. Our apologies.
We had an excellent holiday at Patio de Tita on Tenerife. The apartment was lovely and the views of banana grove and sea from our bedroom very unspoilt. Carmen was a charming host and the swimming pool, jacuzzi and free bananas for breakfast couldn't be faulted. Compared with being in a hotel the peace and privacy were wonderful.
One minor gripe - two halogen rings were the only cooking facilities - no electric oven as per the website. Didn't complain as it wasn't a big deal and we wouldn't have wanted to change apartment as I think we had the best one!
